While most Africana Certificate students will be enrolling in Africana-focused courses from outside their home disciplines, the Certificate also encourages advanced interdisciplinary methodology. As a result, students will also be interested in courses providing disciplinary training (such as core Colloquium and Seminar courses).

Teaching assignments must be arranged with your home department. The Graduate Seminar in Africana Studies will rotate teaching assignments to faculty with line weight in Africana Studies.

All participating faculty will be included in events and announcements, will be invited to share their research, and will have opportunities to interact with students in various capacities regardless of whether they are currently teaching graduate Africana courses.
