If you are a faculty member whose work focuses significantly on some aspect of Africana Studies, and would like to be listed as a participating member of the Certificate, please contact the Graduate Director. Participation in the Certificate Program is primarily based on cross-listing existing graduate courses, and is open to all graduate faculty.
While most Africana Certificate students will be enrolling in Africana-focused courses from outside their home disciplines, the Certificate also encourages advanced interdisciplinary methodology. As a result, students will also be interested in courses providing disciplinary training (such as core Colloquium and Seminar courses).
Teaching assignments must be arranged with your home department. The Graduate Seminar in Africana Studies will rotate teaching assignments to faculty with line weight in Africana Studies.
All participating faculty will be included in events and announcements, will be invited to share their research, and will have opportunities to interact with students in various capacities regardless of whether they are currently teaching graduate Africana courses.
