African Diaspora Cultural History offers an introduction to the cultural history of peoples of African descent in North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia, with a focus on the Americas. We will explore the ways that the arts and cultures of African descendants document the evolution of their history, society and politics, and look at how art documents our lives and political debates today. The course connects these broader themes and contexts to contemporary issues in African American life.
